The Heros variety is intended for use as a forage crop. In official variety trial bulletins, it frequently appears as a control sample, which indicates the stability of characteristics typical for the species Lolium perenne.

In a number of countries, the variety has been excluded from current variety lists as it is not a new breeding development. Detailed morphological descriptions and quantitative agronomic indicators for the variety are absent from open publications.
