The variety is diploid and belongs to intermediate maturity types. Breeding programs utilized crosses with material from New Zealand, selected for the development of high-yielding forage crops.

The variety was intended for use in forage mixtures for intensive cattle grazing and demonstrated indicators of ecological stability in regional pasture productivity trials. At present, the variety has been removed from recommended lists and is not commercially available.
