The Recolta variety belongs to diploid (2n) forms of mid-maturing perennial ryegrass. The plant is capable of adapting to different management regimes, such as intensive mowing and grazing, however, in a number of regions it may show sensitivity to harsh winter conditions and the risk of winterkill.

The variety is used both for forage purposes to establish long-term pastures and hayfields, and as part of grass mixtures for landscaping. Due to its endurance and ability for rapid regeneration, the variety is classified as an intermediate turf-forage type of use.
