The plant is a dwarf compact shrub of rounded shape with dense branching. The height is usually about 1 meter, and it can reach 1.5–2 meters at maturity. The foliage is evergreen, small-leaved, consisting of leathery oval or elliptical leaves of a dark green color with a glossy sheen.
The flowers are cup-shaped, creamy-white in hue, and possess a pronounced vanilla fragrance. The buds are covered with characteristic velvety pubescence. The main flowering occurs in spring, and a less intense repeat wave is also observed in mid-summer. The frost resistance of the plant is about -12°C.
