The variety is a hybrid of the Mahonia repens group. The plant is distinguished by a very dense and compact habit. The leaves are compound, consisting of 7–9 leaflets: when emerging, they have a red-brown hue, in summer they become glossy dark green, and in winter they acquire a purple color.
Flowering occurs in April to early May, accompanied by the appearance of dense, saturated yellow inflorescences. The fruits are large, of a dull black-blue shade. The variety possesses good adaptability, drought tolerance, and winter hardiness, and is capable of developing both in full sun and in partial shade.
