The variety is a hybrid of the Mahonia repens group. The plant is characterized by a compact, broadly spreading crown and the ability to intensively form root suckers, spreading outwards. The height of the shrub is from 25 to 60 cm.
The pinnately compound leaves have a bronze hue in spring, become dark green and glossy in summer, and acquire a purple-red color in winter. Flowering occurs in April-May with deep yellow flowers gathered in inflorescences.
The variety possesses winter hardiness and drought tolerance. It is suitable for creating groundcover compositions and landscaping spaces under trees. In botanical literature, the variety may be referred to as Berberis repens «Bokrasio».
