The variety is a historical object of folk selection, the first mentions of which date back to the 17th century. It has many synonyms, including Reinette Grise d'Automne, Herbst Rabau, and Graue Reinette.

The fruits have a flattened-round shape and medium size, reaching 49 mm in height and 65 mm in diameter. The skin is greenish-yellow with a brownish or reddish blush, heavily russeted, which gives it a characteristic "leathery" appearance.

The fruit flesh is loose and juicy, possessing a sweet-and-sour taste with a spicy aroma. The variety belongs to autumn types; harvest maturity occurs at the end of September, and the fruits retain their consumer qualities until December. The tree is distinguished by its low-maintenance nature.
