The variety was obtained in 1878 by crossing the varieties «Ananasrenette» and «Purpurroter Agatapfel». The tree is distinguished by weak or moderately vigorous growth, a healthy condition, and high frost resistance. The variety is diploid and self-sterile, requiring the planting of pollinator varieties.

The fruits have a round or slightly conical shape. The ground color of the skin is greenish-yellow, turning golden-yellow when fully ripe, often with a reddish blush. The flesh is yellowish-white, firm, fine-grained, and juicy. The fruits ripen at the end of October and are suitable for storage until March.
