Zwiebelborsdorfer is an old variety with small to medium-sized flattened-round fruits. They have light yellow skin with a red blush, firm yellowish-white flesh with a wine-tart taste, and a deep basin. The tree is medium-sized with a flat crown, winter hardy, and undemanding regarding soil.

Purpurroter Zwiebelapfel is a regional vigorous variety from Southern Germany, characterized by high disease resistance and an intensely purple color of the small fruits. The Baltic variety Sīpoliņš, derived from the variety Edelborsdorfer, is characterized by high productivity, longevity, and resistance to scab and canker.
