In the 1980s, the FITO 78-22 variety was included among the varieties with the best overall productivity indicators during comparative trials on irrigated lands in southwestern Spain. Quality indicators of the produce, such as crude protein content and organic matter digestibility, were comparable to other varieties participating in the tests.

A detailed description of the morphological traits of the variety, as well as data on resistance to diseases and lodging, are absent in the publications. The variety is an archival research object and is not represented in the manufacturer's current commercial assortment.
