The Flandria variety belongs to the Flemish-type group, characterized by high growth and development rates. The crop is intended for green mass and hay production, and in scientific breeding, it is used as a model for creating varieties resistant to high soil acidity.
Plants of this type are distinguished by early maturity and rapid regeneration after cutting. The variety is considered sufficiently winter-hardy, but exhibits susceptibility to bacterial wilt, which leads to a decrease in productivity after the third year of cultivation.
Morphologically, the variety is described as stemmy. In agronomic studies, Flandria is often cited as genetic material for breeding work on the study of forage quality and phytoremediation.
