The Greenmed variety is a specialized "lawn" alfalfa intended for inclusion in grass mixtures for lawns and slope stabilization. Its recommended content in a mixture is about 5–6%; it is not intended for monoculture cultivation or industrial forage production.
The plant has a prostrate growth habit, small leaves, and a moderate rate of development, which adapts it to regular mowing at a height from 3.5 cm. The variety has a strong taproot, ensuring resistance to extreme heat and drought, and the seeds are usually supplied with bacterial inoculation for atmospheric nitrogen fixation and to improve the nutrition of neighboring grass species.
