The variety belongs to the group of Italian rice varieties. Its characteristic feature is an early maturity period. In agrobiological research, the plant is used to study adaptation processes to stress conditions, in particular to flooding, under which the variety develops aerenchyma for oxygen transport.

The variety possesses adaptation mechanisms to hypoxia and anoxia. Agronomic reports note the susceptibility of the plants to infestation by the nematode Aphelenchoides besseyi, which manifests as symptoms of chlorosis and tissue deformation. The variety is included in germplasm collections as a typical example of Italian rice cultivation and is genetically similar to varieties traditionally used for preparing risotto.
