The variety, known by the technical code RTPIV791-38 and the trade name Caroline Constabel, is a hybrid of a tree peony and an herbaceous peony. The plant reaches a height of 70–90 cm, has a spreading shape and strong stems that hold large dome-shaped flowers without additional support.
The flowers are characterized by a soft pink or salmon-pink color with darker reddish centers and a mild fragrance. From 3 to 5 buds are formed on one stem. The dense foliage retains its decorative appearance throughout the season, including the autumn period.
The plant belongs to the category of early-flowering varieties. The variety combines the features of tree peonies in terms of the appearance of flowers and foliage with the features of herbaceous peonies, such as vigorous growth and the annual dieback of the aboveground part.
