The Dapezi variety is a perennial evergreen epiphytic plant, forming a dense rosette bush typically 15 to 23 cm in height. Characteristic features of the species are heart-shaped leaves with a deeply wrinkled texture and erect, unbranched stems, often having a reddish tint.
The plant produces small white or cream-colored flowers, gathered in narrow spicate inflorescences on peduncles. The crop is thermophilic, with an optimal maintenance temperature of 18–25°C. The plant is intended exclusively for decorative purposes and for cultivation in interiors or terrariums; it is sensitive to soil waterlogging.
