The plant has a spreading growth habit and differs from more compact modern miniature varieties. The leaves are obovate in shape.

The flower color is characterized as bright purple or dark pink-purple. On the inner side of the corolla tube, there is distinct purple veining on a light blue-violet background. Before dehiscence, the anthers are light gray-blue.
