The plant is of the bush type with shoots up to 50 cm long. The variety is very early. During maturation, the pods develop characteristic red stripes or spots.
The variety is widely used in the cuisine of the Trás-os-Montes region, in particular for preparing traditional stews. According to research, the variety is susceptible to infection by the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica.
