The variety is a traditional crop of the Umbria region, traditionally grown in the Cave di Foligno area and the valley between the cities of Foligno and Spoleto. Due to its local origin, the variety is included in the regional register of genetic resources as an object in need of protection against loss.

The plant belongs to the bush (determinate) type. Characteristic features are slightly curved pods and a greenish shade of the seed coat, reflected in the variety name. The variety is valued for its delicate taste and thin skin, which ensures high digestibility.

The beans are used in cooking for preparing soups, appetizers, side dishes, and pâtés. Processing dry grains into flour, which is used in the preparation of desserts, is also practiced.
