The variety belongs to the bush bean group, often designated in catalogs as Phaseolus vulgaris var. nanus. One of the key morphological features of the variety was its long pods.
In 1950s scientific literature, the variety was mentioned in studies regarding susceptibility to the pathogen Ascochyta boltshauseri. It was noted that under cold and rainy summer conditions, the variety showed a high degree of infection with this fungal disease. The variety also appeared in scientific papers dedicated to the study of the bean common mosaic virus.
