The Monroe dry bean variety was developed by Cornell University in the USA. It differs from the Michelite variety in its earlier maturity period and high productivity.
The seeds of this variety are of medium size. In official registers, other agricultural crops, in particular winter malting barley, are also registered under the name Monroe, which can lead to confusion.
