Pastalia is a local Greek variety (landrace) that is not a product of specialized breeding. In scientific literature, this variety is mentioned as an object of genetic research or as a rootstock in bean grafting experiments conducted by agricultural universities in Greece.

Studies have shown that the use of this variety as a rootstock influences bean yield. It is also noted that Pastalia plants are resistant to all isolates of the fungus Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, which is the pathogen of anthracnose.

For this variety, there are no detailed agronomic descriptions such as plant height, exact maturity dates, or specific morphological traits characteristic of commercial breeding varieties.
