The variety is a mutant line widely used in scientific experiments to study mechanisms of resistance to adverse environmental factors. Research is focused on the analysis of the biological characteristics of the genotype, including drought tolerance mechanisms and biochemical markers of oxidative stress.

The plant possesses specific morphological, physical, and biochemical barriers providing resistance to infestation by the bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus Say). The variety has also been studied for its response to the herbicide diflufenican.
