The leaves of the variety have a wide bright golden margin, which may lighten to a creamy-white shade with age. The brightness of the variegation is most pronounced in good sunlight, although shoots may lose this characteristic over time. The dense, fragrant flowers are colored in purple-crimson or bright crimson tones.

The plant blooms from July to September. The bush is upright and sturdy, resistant to lodging. The variety is susceptible to powdery mildew, which led to the appearance of an improved version, "Goldmine Improved", with higher disease resistance and different growth characteristics.
