Variety description

The plant forms a compact habit, inheriting an arching leaf shape from the Phormium cookianum species. The wide variegated leaves combine a dark burgundy or almost black central stripe with a lime-green margin. The height and width of a mature plant vary from 1 to 1.5 m. During the summer period, upright flower stalks with tubular yellow or red flowers are formed.
The variety is an evergreen perennial adapted to climate zones 8–10 and withstands temperature drops down to -10°C. The plant prefers full sun or partial shade, as well as fertile, moist, well-drained soils and is resistant to coastal winds. It may be susceptible to mealybugs.
