The shrub is characterized by compact growth, reaching a height of 1.75–1.8 meters with a crown width of about 1 meter, although under certain conditions it can grow up to 2–4 meters. The plant has a sturdy bushy structure and upright stems of an intense red hue.
The leaves are dense, dark green with cream or light green marbled spots. Young leaves have a bright pinkish-red hue. In late spring and early summer, the shrub blooms with small white flowers in flat corymbose inflorescences, after which spherical red fruits may appear.
The variety is winter-hardy, withstanding temperature drops down to -14...-20 °C, but requires protection from drying winds. It is used for creating hedges, group plantings, as well as for container cultivation.
