The variety is the result of interspecific hybridization of Pinus nigra and Pinus densiflora. It is a dwarf shrub that forms a symmetrical cushion-shaped or globose crown without the need for special pruning. At maturity, the plant reaches a height and width of about 1–1.5 m.
The needles of the variety are dark green, stiff, 10–15 cm long, and gathered in bundles of two. The plant forms small brown cones. The variety is characterized by high viability, withstands frosts down to -30°C, is wind-resistant, and is suitable for cultivation in containers or rock gardens.
