The variety is a hybrid of sugar and marrow peas, bred in the 1920s by breeder A. H. Bremer. The plant height reaches 50–70 cm, which allows it to be grown without support or with minimal support.
Long pointed pods are located on the stem in pairs and retain their succulence even after the peas have fully developed. The green wrinkled seeds are distinguished by their sweetness, and the absence of a parchment layer allows the pods to be consumed whole.
