The Santon variety was obtained by crossing winter and spring pea varieties. Studies of the biochemical characteristics of the seeds revealed that the trypsin inhibitor activity in this variety is lower than in typical French winter pea varieties, which is an important indicator for the use of the crop for feed purposes.
Detailed morphological traits of the plant, such as height or resistance to lodging, as well as the official maturity group are not presented in open sources.
