The variety is a hybrid obtained by crossing the Asian species Podophyllum difforme, Podophyllum delavayi, and Podophyllum versipelle. The plant forms a neat clump 40–50 cm in height. Large peltate leaves with a diameter of up to 40–45 cm have a hexagonal or octagonal shape and combine green, silver, bronze, and dark brown colors in their coloring.
Flowering occurs in the 3rd–5th year of life in late spring or early summer, with drooping bell-shaped wine-red or burgundy flowers appearing under the leaves. After flowering, fleshy berries may form, changing color from green to yellowish. The plant contains poisonous alkaloids.
The variety is slow-growing and winter-hardy in USDA zones 6–9. In cultivation, it requires protection from slugs and snails. In botanical literature, the hybrid is sometimes classified as Dysosma Kaleidoscope and is not a form of the North American species Podophyllum peltatum.
