The variety is a hybrid of the species Polemonium reptans and Polemonium yezoense, forming a dense, neat mound. Leaves are pinnately dissected, fern-like. Flowers are bell-shaped, lilac-hued with yellow anthers, possess a grape-like fragrance, and are collected in loose inflorescences.
Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer, sometimes continuing until August. The plant prefers partial shade and humus-rich moist soils. It is resistant to deer browsing, however, it is sensitive to soil drying and may be susceptible to fungal diseases in conditions of poor ventilation.
