The term PERCOCO refers to a group of peach varieties, not apricot. These are fruits with a firm and fleshy structure, traditionally called industrial peaches due to their widespread use in the production of compotes, peaches in syrup, and jams, although they are also suitable for fresh consumption.

Genetically, the varieties of this group belong to the species Prunus persica and differ from Prunus armeniaca. The erroneous classification of these varieties as apricots in catalogs arises from incorrect categorization within nursery databases.
