The trees are deciduous, reaching a height of 3 to 6 meters. The fruits have a flattened shape, velvety or occasionally smooth skin, and a small stone. The flesh is usually white, but yellow-fleshed varieties also occur; the taste is typically sweet with reduced acidity.
Varieties within the group differ in maturation periods, which fall within the period from May to September. The plants require a certain number of chill hours for flowering, the value of which varies from 50 to 1500 hours depending on the specific variety.
