The shrub reaches 1.5–3.0 meters in height at maturity with a crown width of about 2.0–3.0 meters. The foliage remains throughout the winter. Flowering occurs with white flowers in May–June.
The fruits are bright red in color, sometimes with an orange tint, ripening from September to December. The plant is winter-hardy, withstands frosts down to -20°C, and is suitable for urban landscaping and creating impenetrable barrier plantings.
