The tree or shrub has a narrow, upright, columnar growth habit and reaches a height of 4–5 meters. The branches and shoots form a compact structure, making the plant suitable for small gardens.

The main feature of the cultivar is the leaves, which, due to their concave and curled shape, resemble curly hair. In autumn, the foliage changes color to bronze-red or amber-yellow shades.

The plant is winter hardy, develops well in sun or partial shade, and prefers well-drained calcareous soils. It is often grown as a grafted specimen, including as a standard.
