The Bijela zimska variety belongs to the winter radish group and is intended for long-term storage and fresh consumption. Unlike black radish varieties, which have dark skin, this variety has a white color of root crops.

In taxonomy, the variety is often included in the category Raphanus sativus L. var. niger; however, by its external characteristics, it is a white radish. Official variety lists of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina define it as a synonym of the Runder Weisser Winter variety.
