The variety is intended for use as green manure. It is characterized by a deep root system penetrating up to 180 cm into the soil and dense foliage that effectively suppresses weed growth.

In crop rotations, the variety is used to control nematodes that carry tobacco rattle virus, which affects potatoes. It has partial resistance to the beet cyst nematode. Agrotechnology involves a seed planting depth of 2–3 cm with a seeding rate of 18–25 kg/ha.

There is an improved selection of the variety called Siletta Nova. The plant is not intended for human consumption as a vegetable crop.
