The variety Siletta Nova is a technical crop intended for green manure, soil erosion protection, nitrogen conservation, and humus accumulation. The plant does not form an edible root crop. The variety possesses a powerful taproot system that penetrates to a depth of up to 180 cm, which allows for effective disruption of compacted soil layers.
The plant forms a dense, leafy mass that quickly shades the soil surface, suppressing weed development. An important feature of the variety is its phytosanitary role: it is effective in controlling nematodes of the genus Trichodorus, which transmit the tobacco rattle virus that causes damage to potatoes.
The recommended seeding rate is 18–25 kg/ha with a seeding depth of 2–3 cm. The optimal sowing period falls between July and the end of August. The variety is often used as part of specialized seed mixtures for agricultural programs.
