The variety is a traditional type cultivated in the Zagreb region. The plant is a perennial crop forming a large leaf rosette. Only the fleshy petioles are edible, with a length of 30–60 cm and a thickness of 1.5–4 cm.
The variety is used in cooking for the preparation of desserts, compotes, juices, jams, ice cream, and wine. Due to the content of anthraquinones, the leaf blades of the plant are not edible.
