The plant has a compact habit, reaching a height and width of about 65 cm at the age of ten; the maximum dimensions of a mature shrub are 60–80 cm. The leaves are elliptical, leathery, dark green with a glossy sheen, and acquire a wine-red hue in autumn. The flowers are simple, 3–4 cm in diameter, and cardinal-red in color.

The variety is a hybrid of "Diamant Rot" × "Profesor Jeršov". Flowering occurs in the first or second half of May. The plant is characterized by frost hardiness, maintains its shape well without pruning, and is suitable for solitary and group plantings, rock gardens, and container cultivation. It prefers partial shade and acidic, well-drained soils.
