The variety belongs to the species Rhododendron simsii Planch., which is traditionally classified as an azalea intended for pot culture or cultivation as a thermophilic plant.
Breeding work on this variety at the VÚK institute was aimed at creating ornamental plants with improved aesthetic characteristics, including a compact habit, as well as increasing resistance to diseases, such as Phytophthora and powdery mildew, and adverse abiotic factors.
