The fruits of this variety are characterized by good quality, medium or large size, and greenish-red color. The plant is a vigorous bush. The variety is used in making jams and for canning, and when fully ripe, it can be used for dessert purposes.
Keepsake is known as an important genetic component in breeding, having become a parent form for such well-known varieties as Invicta and Reflamba. In historical literature, the variety is also found under the names Berry's Early, Berry's Early Giant, and Berry's Early Kent.
