A tree or large shrub, reaching 10–12 meters in height with a crown width of up to 8 meters. The shoots possess high strength, flexibility, and are practically thornless.
Flowering is abundant, occurring in late spring. The fuchsia-purple flowers are fragrant and feature a characteristic spot inside with pink, yellow, and green tones. The fruits are smooth dark-brown pods 5–9 cm in length, containing from 3 to 8 seeds.
The plant is resistant to wind loads, frosts down to -23 °C, snowfall, drought, heat, and pests. It can grow on various types of soil with good permeability, tolerating both full sun and partial shade. It is used in decorative landscaping and as a honey plant.
