The variety forms a compact bush with an active growth habit. The flowers have a rounded shape and can change color during blooming, fading to an ivory shade. The plant is characterized by a high degree of resistance to diseases.

There is confusion in the history of the variety: the registration designation "Ausrace" has at various times been associated with different David Austin seedlings, including the form known as "Ludlow Castle". The characteristics of plants sold under the trade name "England’s Rose" may vary.
