The Ausprima variety, known under the trade name Sir Edward Elgar, belongs to the group of English shrub roses. The plant was obtained by crossing the Mary Rose and The Squire varieties.

The flowers are characterized by a pink color, a pronounced fragrance, and a "quartered" form of the inflorescences. This variety is remontant, which ensures reblooming throughout the season, and is intended for ornamental garden use.
