The MAR 501 variety is characterized by an upright bush habit with long current-year shoots that have strong anthocyanin coloration and short internodes. Thorns on the shoots are brownish-purple, few in number, and short. Leaves have a dark green color on the upper side.
Fruiting is primocane, occurring in the mid-season on two-year-old shoots and in the late season on current-year shoots. Berries are large, elongated-conical in shape, red in color with a distinct sheen. The fruits have high density and separate easily from the receptacle, which simplifies harvesting.
