Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety Prime-Ark® 45 was obtained by crossing APF-1 and APF-12 forms. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth of erect thorny canes reaching a height of 200 cm. The variety is remontant and capable of fruiting on both current-year canes and second-year canes.

Berries have a black color, a glossy surface, and an elongated-conical or cylindrical shape; their average weight is 6–9 g. The fruits possess high firmness and good transportability. The variety shows low susceptibility to root infections of anthracnose and resistance to orange rust.

In cultivation, the use of trellises to support the canes is often required. In regions with severe winters, mowing the canes to the ground at the end of the season is practiced, which allows the blackberry to be grown as an annual crop and avoids frost damage.
