The variety is intended for pharmaceutical use as a valuable source of biologically active compounds, such as salicylic glycosides, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and tannins. Due to this chemical composition, the plant's bark is considered a raw material for creating 'natural aspirin' with analgesic and antipyretic effects.
The main distinguishing feature of the variety is the concentration of pharmacologically active substances, which exceeds many other studied Salix purpurea genotypes. The plant possesses typical properties for the species: it is a shrub resistant to flooding and adapted to growth in wet conditions.
