The Cortexa variety belongs to the species Salix purpurea L. The plant is characterized by flexible shoots, which are initially purple-red in color, and opposite leaf arrangement, which is a rare trait for willows.
The primary purpose of the variety is the production of pharmaceutical raw material — bark (Salix cortex). The variety is not intended for cultivation as an energy crop or a biomass source, unlike other willow forms used for these purposes.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
