The shrub is upright and well-branched. Flowering occurs in May–June with creamy-white inflorescences. The berries ripen in late summer or early autumn; they are edible, have a sour taste with a bitter note, and are suitable for processing.
The plant is hardy, possesses winter hardiness down to -25 °C, and is self-fertile. The variety is primarily decorative and is used for flower beds and hedges. For bright leaf coloration, it is recommended to plant in sunny areas.
