The plant is highly branched, reaching a height of 30–60 cm. The stem is tetrahedral, tubular, and becomes woody at the base. Leaves are opposite, narrow-lanceolate, almost sessile, 1–3 cm long and 2–4 mm wide. Flowers are small, white, lilac, or light pink in color.
The variety is characterized by a high essential oil content, which includes carvacrol and cymene, as well as high yield. Biologically, the crop is heat-loving, light-demanding, and possesses drought tolerance. The vegetation period from emergence to seed maturity is 130–150 days.
Used in the food industry as a spice, and in medicine for flatulence, stomach cramps, and as an antiseptic agent. Essential oil is used in the production of toothpastes, soaps, as well as in the manufacturing of bitters and vermouths.
